Dwight Yoakam Comes to Southern Utah

He’s come a very long way since his earliest days in Kentucky.  This popular bluegrass, country boy has sold more than 25 million albums to fans all over the world and has been nominated 21 times for the prestigious GRAMMY Award … and has even taken home a few!

Dwight Yoakam now has 12 albums which have “gone Gold” and 9 platinum or multi-platinum albums.  His successes also include many, many famous friends with whom he has collaborated or starred in his storied and successful career in both music and movies including – but certainly not limited to – Allison Krauss, Dolly Parton, Channing Tatum, Daniel Craig, Jodie Foster, Tommy Lee Jones, Jared Leto, Forest Whitaker and Matthew McConaughey.

Besides having almost 40 albums chart on Billboard (including 14 which made it into Billboard’s Top Ten), Yoakum is a formidable movie and television actor whose filmography includes Sling Blade and The Newton Boys. In 2016, he had a re-occurring role in David E. Kelley’s Amazon series, Goliath, and most recently, he appeared in director Steven Soderbergh’s film, Logan Lucky, seamlessly melting into his roles and impressively standing toe-to-toe with some of the world’s most recognizable Hollywood names and faces.

17 Years in a Beautiful, Handmade Ceramic Bowl You Can Take Home

Now in its 17th year, the St. George Art Museum’s annual Soup N’ Bowl fundraising luncheon and auction will, once again, be a treat for your taste buds as well as your eyes. Soup N’ Bowl, one of two fundraisers held annually to support museum programs, will be serving up a delicious lunch and your choice of a beautiful ceramic bowl. There will also be fabulous art to take home in a silent auction as well as musical entertainment on Friday, March 2, 2018, from 11 am to 1:30 pm at the Pioneer Center for the Arts at 47 E. 200 North in St. George … all for just $25 per person.

The silent auction will give attendees a chance to bid on pottery made by local professional potters and pieces from several ceramic artist participants in the St. George Art Festival. Funds raised will be used to purchase art works to add to 863 pieces already in the St. George Art Museum’s permanent collection.

Your ticket price will also give you FREE admission to the St. George Art Museum where the art works of Dana Russell, Sayaka Ganz and Milton Goldstein are currently on display through April 28, 2018. Russell’s show Metal Mash Up is a portion of his amazing recycled metal in the Main Gallery until May 18. Sayaka Ganz’s work is plastics recycled in a different way. Her display – Reclaimed Creations – can be seen in the Mezzanine Gallery; and, Milton Goldstein’s Pristine Land is now part of the museum’s permanent collection and is on display in the Legacy Gallery … all which can be enjoyed for FREE as part of the $25 ticket price for the Soup-N-Bowl event.

When the Soup N’ Bowl is over, you can take your one-of-a-kind handmade ceramic bowl or silent auction items home to your vacation home-away-from-home at St. George Vacation Rental condo at www.stgeorgeresortrentals.com or Five Seasons Vacation Rental at www.laspalmasresortcondos.com. Each unit includes comfortable living spaces, fully stocked kitchens with all appliances; free-use laundry sets in every unit; and resort amenities. We’re here to serve your vacation housing needs.
